Verses in favor of Free Will?
A couple of months ago, at biblesupport.com (a site that acts as a repository for e-Sword modules, and also has message boards, blogs, etc.) a user named ‘DSaw’ posted a request for Bible verses in support of free will. He also stated that he wasn’t interested in debating, but I’m sure you can guess what happened next. Here is the list of verses I posted:
God is in control of the human will:
(Exo 9:16) And for this cause I have made you stand, in order to cause you to see My power, and in order to declare My name in all the land.
(2Ch 36:22) And in the first year of Cyrus the king of Persia, in order to accomplish the Word of Jehovah in the mouth of Jeremiah, Jehovah awakened the spirit of Cyrus the king of Persia, and he caused a voice to pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,
(Pro 21:1) As streams of waters, the king’s heart is in the hand of Jehovah; He extends it wherever He desires.
(Jer 18:6) O house of Israel, am I not able to do to you as this potter? a statement of Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
(Eze 36:26) And I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.
(Rom 9:16) So, then, it is not of the one willing, nor of the one running, but of the One showing mercy, of God.
(Rom 9:17) For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very thing I raised you up, so that I might display My power in you, and so that My name might be publicized in all the earth.” Ex. 9:16
(Rom 9:18) So, then, to whom He desires, He shows mercy. And to whom He desires, He hardens.
(Rom 9:21) Or does not the potter have authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make one vessel to honor, and one to dishonor? Jer. 18:6
God is in control of the sins of wicked people:
(Gen 50:20) And you, you intended evil against me, but God meant it for good, in order to make it as it is this day, to keep a great many people alive.
(Exo 4:21) And Jehovah said to Moses, As you go to return to Egypt, see all the wonders which I have put in your hand, and do them before Pharaoh. And I will make strong his heart, and he will not send the people away.
(Exo 7:3) And I will harden the heart of Pharaoh. And I will multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.
(Exo 9:12) And Jehovah hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, as Jehovah had said to Moses.
(Deu 2:30) And Sihon the king of Heshbon was not willing to let us pass by him, for Jehovah your God had hardened his spirit, and had emboldened his heart, so as to give him into your hand, as it is this day.
(Jos 11:20) For it was of Jehovah to harden their hearts, so that they should come against Israel in battle, so that they might be destroyed, so that they might have no favor, but that He might destroy them, as Jehovah commanded Moses.
(1Sa 2:25) If a man sins against a man, then God shall judge him. But if a man sins against Jehovah, who shall pray for him? But they did not listen to the voice of their father because Jehovah desired to cause them to die.

(Joh 19:11) Jesus answered, You would not have authority against Me, not even any if it was not being given to you from above. Because of this the one giving Me over to you has a greater sin.
(Act 2:23) this One given up by the before-determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you having taken by lawless hands, having crucified Him, you killed Him.
(Act 4:27) For on a truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the nations and the peoples of Israel, were assembled against Your holy Servant, Jesus, whom You anointed,

Unregenerate people cannot choose to please God:
(Gen 6:5) And Jehovah saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and every purpose of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day.
(Psa 14:2) Jehovah looked down from Heaven on the sons of mankind, to see if there was one considering and seeking God:
(Psa 14:3) all have turned aside; together they are corrupt; not one is doing good, not even one!
(Psa 51:5) Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.
(Pro 12:10) The righteous one knows the life of his animal, but the mercies of the wicked ones are cruel.
(Pro 15:8) The sacrifice of the wicked one is a disgusting thing to Jehovah, but the prayer of the upright one is His delight.
(Jer 13:23) Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then you also may do good who have learned to do evil.
(Jer 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is incurable; who can know it?
(Mat 7:18) A good tree cannot produce evil fruits, nor a corrupt tree produce good fruits.
(Joh 3:19) And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil.

(Rom 8:5) For the ones being according to flesh are mindful of the things of the flesh. And the ones according to Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(Rom 8:6) For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.
(Rom 8:7) Therefore the mind of the flesh is enmity towards God; for it is not being subject to the law of God, for neither can it be.
(Rom 8:8) And the ones being in the flesh are not able to please God.

Man is not responsible because his will is free, but because God is sovereign:
(Deu 10:16) And you shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and you shall not harden your neck any more.
(Eze 37:4) And He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O dry bones, hear the Word of Jehovah:
(Eze 37:5) So says the Lord Jehovah to these bones, Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live,
(Eze 37:6) and I will put on you sinews and will bring flesh on you and spread skin over you and put breath in you, and you shall live. And you shall know that I am Jehovah.
(Mat 12:13) Then He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he stretched out. And it was restored sound as the other.
